UGC NET ELIGIBILITY Criteria 2019

UGC NET is the first gateway towards the lectureship and research work.

Aspirants who wish to appear in UGC NET 2019 should know the conditions of eligibility. From July 2018, NTA revised the eligibility criteria and selection process.

UGC NET in Eligibility Criteria 2019

Recently NTA revised eligibility criteria for UGC NET candidates are as follows:

From now transgenders are also eligible to give UGC NET with same benefits given to SC/ST.

  • For applying UGC NET EXAM applicant must have PG degree with minimum 55% (general category) and 5% relaxation for (ST/SC/OBC/PWD/Transgenders) from a recognized university.
  • Candidates who are in final year/semester of PG can also apply for UGC NET Exam, in case of result failure the applicant will not be allowed to give UGC NET EXAM.
  • According to the norms of UGC NET, candidates have to choose the subject which is similar to their PG (Post Graduation) degree.

Age Limit:

  • Age limit for UGC NET EXAM for general category is 30 years,  previously it was 28, 2 years relaxation is given from the year July 2018.
  • 5 years’ relaxation is given for ST/SC/OBC/PWD/Transgender candidate and for the female candidate.
  • 3-year relaxation is given for LLM degree holders.
  • The PhD degree holder gets relaxation in eligibility of 5% aggregate marks who had been completed master’s degree before 19 Sept 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result).
  • There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor.

UGC NET December Application Form 2019:

NTA has released the official notification regarding application form. Candidates who want to appear in UGC NET December 2019 attempt can fill their forms from 9th September to 9th October 2019.

How to fill Online Application Form

Filling UGC NET Online Application might be a complex process for some candidates. But don’t worry, we are here to assist you in filling the form for UGC NET. Follow the given steps:

Step 1: UGC NET Online Registration Procedure

  • Candidate has to visit the official website of NTA.
  • After coming on the website, click on Apply Online.
  • Candidates who have already registered can directly login and skip the step.
  • After clicking the online button, this page will switch to the instruction page where candidates have to read all the instructions and click on the checkbox to agree to certain conditions.
  • Click on ‘Proceed to Apply Online’ button and the NTA UGC NET 2019 Application Form will appear on the screen.
  • Enter the details as asked in the form and click on Submit.

Step 2: Fill the Personal and Educational Details

  • After coming to this page, you are required to fill the personal and qualification details.
  • Fill all the relevant details, otherwise, you’ll be rejected.
  • Before stepping to the step 3, you were asked to review all the details before final submission.
  • After filling all the details proceed to next step.
  • A message will appear, contains your application number.
  • After this, click to upload a picture.

Step 3: Upload Photo and Signature

This is the last step before submitting the final application form.

  • You are required to scan you photograph and signature only in jpg and jpeg format.
  • Adjust the size of the photograph and signature according to the given details in the box.
  • Now preview your scanned image and step to next step

It is must that you upload your latest photo not older than 3 months and at the time to examination, you are required to bring the same photograph which you scanned.

Step 4: Payment and Procedure

  • You can pay for the forms through; Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking or e-challan.
  • Application Fee for General category INR 800, OBC INR 400 & ST/SC/Transgender candidates INR 200.
  • After paying the fees for the form, take out the print if possible then take coloured print out on A-4 size paper.

 Important instruction for the candidates:

Candidates are suggested to visit the exam centre a day before so, that they reach the venue easily and on time.

Candidates have to carry documents are as follows:

  • Download the Admit Card from the official website of NTA.
  • Original and Valid photo ID.
  • PwD candidates have to carry their PwD certificate issued by Competent Authority.
